I bought one of these to replace a $7 floor lamp from Walmart that wouldn't even stand up straight. This is a much sturdier lamp, with a nice heavy base and thick post. Highly recommended.

I two of these floor lamps yesterday, and so far they are great. They're much sturdier than I would have expected. The base is heavy, the pole is actually quite thick, and is made of sturdy metal. There's also a nut you use to screw the plastic shade in to the socket, which keeps it in place and prevents wobbling. Remember to get a 50/100/150 3-way bulb to go with this lamp.

Edit: 1 Year after purchasing and these lamps are still working perfectly.

Very easy to install, sturdy and elegant, brightens up my entire living and dining room (about 20x10 feet). You have to purchase the correct three way bulb for it to work properly, otherwise you only get one light setting instead of the three dimmers. Decent price and fast shipping!
